She Who Holds The List, Rules.

As we know, being a Domestic Engineer requires a lot of organization. This is one of my favorite organizational tips as it covers so many areas.

Go to http://www.homeplansoftware.com. On the top right of the homepage you will see a spiral notebook icon. This is a free customizable grocery list program. Download and customize it.

When you customize the list, notice that you may add not only items, but categories. We added animal needs, school lunch, and school supplies, to name a few.

Theoretically, you could list all of your errands and expenses for each to this list, by naming categories for other places that you do business regularly and what you buy there. These may be the drug store, or the dry cleaners. Notice that you also have a place for the price of each item, fill in your list as completely as possible.

Print the complete list; laminate it with clear Contact Paper, cut out the sections that pertain to your pantry and post that part of the list there.

Do the same for your refrigerator, freezer and laundry area. As you need items, mark them on the appropriate list with a dry erase marker (like they use on white boards).

When is time to run your errands, put the items that you need on your main list in the computer and print just the items that you need. You will notice that your list is printed in categories just as the store is laid out. If you choose to utilize it, this list also will help you budget expenses.
